Thresa:
I am looking at a few BC’s right now and Zeagle Zena is one of them. I really like the look and the feel of the Zena, but I am unsure of the rip cords. I was told by the local dive shop that if you pull the cords then you have to bring the BC in to have the cords put back in. Is this a good design feature, it sounds more complicated than most other BC’s. I’m just wondering why they chose to make their BC’s this way. What are the pro’s and con’s of this rip cord system? Thanks in advance for the input.

I had to drop my weights once in Cozumel while on the surface, it was easy to use in an emergency and easy to restring

Zeagle Zena owner--love the rip cord--love every stitch. Wouldn't exchange the Zena for any other BC except maybe another Zena. Great fit--the extra support around the hips really does make a huge difference.

And I agree--if your shop didn't offer to show you how, maybe consider another shop.

(Sorry Scott, way too good a line to pass up)

Hey Thresa... my wife has the Zena, and I have the Escape (I also loved the Ranger, however, the Escape and Zena do us well for travel). We have had *zero* issues with the BCs.
We've never had occasion to ditch (and hopefully never will), however, the ripcord is ultra simple. Besides, in an unwelcome descent, I'm more interested in getting rid of the weight quickly and simply (one pull releases both sides), then worried about re-threading (which, incidentally, is *not* an issue, either).
I would have liked all stainless D-rings on both the Zena and Escape (listening, Scott?), but, I'm very happy with the Zeagle.
Good luck...
