I will be staying on Ocracoke Island with my family in August and I'm looking for local diving opportunities. Olympic/Discovery in Moorehead City seems too far with a 2.5 hour ferry ride plus drive, unless I rent a room the day before. Anyone have any ideas for charters leaving locally? I have AOW cert. and hopefully will have Nitrox and wreck by the time I get down there.

Thanks, Rich.

Not on Ocracoke AFAIK. Check out Hatteras and http://www.outerbanksdiving.com/ It will still take some planing with a much shorter ferry ride. Ask the folks at outerbanks for some pointers on the logistics (like what time to get in line for the ferry); I think they are used to people coming from ocracoke to dive with them.

The British cemetery and the Methodist church on Ocracoke have some historical links to NC shipwrecks that can be interesting to divers.

Thanks for the info. I checked out Outerbanks diving on the web and called them - they look to be just the place I need. Thanks again.
