Thanks for confirming my gut feeling.

Yeah, I MIGHT be ok with a boat dive...
but not comfortable with a beach dive that was proposed to me. Agreed... many drunken boaters and others. Personally, I prefer diving when it ISN'T a holiday or weekend. My experience is that the smaller the group.. the better the opportunity to view sea critters

I would stay far away from the water then. The boaters will be drunk by then. Just trying to find a parking space is going to be a feat. I saw the fireworks once off Hollywood beach, took 2+ hours to get off the beach, and cars were parked a half mile from the intercoastal bridge.
 
I'll be doing one at Casino Point on Catalina. Have thought of doing this for years and decided this would be the year. Even talked a few local instructors into joining me.

I'm playing with my son and taking him out to see firewerks at the beach. Kris is working so we gots to do something.
