So I'm home, trying to relax on one of the very few days off I get anymore. The Nextel chirps. 33 year old male seen going under the water after struggling at the surface. I call the marine unit guys, they're on scene with fire with no luck. I activate the team.

I get on scene and the marine unit guys have done an outstanding job buoying off the search area and have a good point last seen. I set up our Fishers Scan 650 and go to work scanning the area. The rest of the team arrive and gear up. I have two targets of interest. As our primary diver is swiming to the target, bingo, a locate. 17 minutes from diver down to sending in the bag. Not our quickiest find, but nice anyway.

Nice operation. Got some experience for our newer members and everyone came home.

Story is, this guy is swimming with his kids, who are in a plastic blow up float toy. He is trying to push them back to shore and began to struggle. He went under and was not seen from.

Job well done. Glad to hear everyone went home safe and sound.
