I had been diving with a Purge valve Mask (For about 60 Dives) it has intermittently fogged up (have read the Anti-Fog threads) I switched to a backup mask (No Purge Valve) that I had bought and have done about 5 dives since, this mask hasn't fogged up at all. I noticed that ocasionally I exhale through my nose and with the non-purge valve I can feel the mask lift off my face so I quit and exhale through my reg. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?? Purge valve mask is now my backup.

I have been diving witha purge valve for awhile now with really no issues. I use about 5 drops of the sea drops and lightly rinse. When I am ready to go down I put it on and dont touch in untill the end of the dive.

I have seen and experienced exhaling by the nose with bubles going out of the mask with no issue with fogging.

Before you believe that you have encountered an insurmountable fogging issue.

Carefuly re-read the anti-fog threads.

One word: Toothpaste. Do it once before each dive. Simple, cheap, works perfectly. Don't switch masks, adopt an an anti-fog process that works.

Small amount of baby shampoo + water + small spray bottle + shaking to mix = fresh-smelling, non-fogging mask

T - Yes, I've had the same experience with the purge mask (Cressi) as I too get so relaxed that I will breath out through my nose a little. What I have had to do is actually be more agressive with my anti-fog routine (normal mask is a little spit and away I go). I do the toothpaste routine before each days diving - usually keeps things in order for the two dive outing on a typical boat. I carry those little Crest tubes (travel size) for conviences in my mask case.. Not really an issue with the mask per se, but there is more room for air flow.. It's important even if it's your backup to keep the glass maintained because when you need your backup, there'll be no time for messing around with it then... :-)

Cheers,

Thanks for the advice. I have read a lot of the threads on Anti-fogging. I really just wanted to try the mask and I like it better than the other mask (more comfortable).
