Hate to hear of good shops closing their doors.
If you're looking for a replacement shop you can check out Sharkys Eco Diving in La Verne CA. It's a family owned establishment that's been around for a little over a year now.

Bummer about Haven's Reef. Sharky's is like 1/2 hour away from Eagle Rock, though, but don't know what's closer. ? Sport Chalet maybe?
Business has been bad for the last few years. Reef Seekers, Laguna Sea Sports, Scuba Toys, and Newport Aquatics all lost their lease or were bought out in the last 2-3 years, although Reef Seekers still does boat trips. I believe American Diver in Lomita also closed. Now Haven's Reef is gone, All Things Scuba is reportedly closing and Sports Chalet has closed the dive operations at some of its stores. Liburdis just announced they are moving and having a clearance sale, but they have not said where they are going. That is usually not a good sign.
