Thanks all!
We've been up in San Luis Obispo since Saturday and we're having a great time. Today we went to Hearst Castle and visited the early arriving elephant seals at Piedras Blancas. It's been perfect! They're two things I've wanted to do for a long time and finally we just did it! It helped that the kids' schedules were in sync.
I wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving, probably my favorite holiday of all.

Those elephant seals at Piedras Blancas sure have increased their population! I was TA'ing in a UCSB marine botany class back in 1990 and we were on a field trip to Piedras Blancas. I took a little walk and rounded a rocky outcrop on the beach to discover a few of them on the beach. No one had mentioned they were even present at the site. Wonder if the bulls were bellowing.
