Greetings from Austin, TX. I am a PADI Rescue Diver of 14 years. Glad to find such an active forum. Already been able to recover an article for someone due to this forum. I took a few years away from diving due to graduate school and new baby boy, glad to be wet again! Always looking for dive partners in the Texas area.

All I can say is the you certainly made a big splash for an intro! Great work finding the ring.

If you really like working in murky conditions, take the Diving for Science : Aquarena Center : Texas State University class. The vis is great when we jump in and often goes to zero while we are working.

Also, Lake Travis is getting pretty low and a lot of interesting sites are a lot more accessible. The Shaker Plant, grottos along the Oasis Wall and Windy Point Public. For the first two, talk to Robert at Welcome to Lake Travis Scuba. Great guy and a class operation.

Great. Thanks for the info. Finding the ring was fun. I used to do a lot of salvage and recovery work and I really enjoy it. The ring has been returned to his mother and he hooked me up with a case of Lone Star, 50$ Chili's gc, and a styrofoam cooler. Came in real handy as I was on my way to the wife's family reunion when we made the swap.

Chilli's is alright but I would have held out for Texas Land and Cattle Company.

If you decide to get your Science Diver "training", drop me a line. I am an A4 rated diver there and would be more than happy to show you how the "pros" do it.

Also, there will be the annual Lake Travis cleanup dive coming up in September. Different shops/clubs are assigned areas of the Lake to cleanup. Devil's Cove is really good for anchors (there are several cables running across the cove along the bottom that catch anchors, find one and just follow it) and shades. You will have the most fun with Robert but space is very limited and in high demand.
