Another 109 thread, but with a twist.

I just picked up a 109 off eBay. The auction was for "AS IS" parts. Everything is there except the exhaust tee, mouth piece and the retaining clip. The diaphragm is in good shape, and the rubber of the diaphragm cover is in very good shape, no cracking at all. The metal is in very good condition on all the parts, with minor scratching and bit of chrome damage. I definitely need new o-rings and a new poppet. Cheapest kit on eBay is $39.99, but I'm trying to find something cheaper. Still need to find the exhaust tee and make some kind of retaining pin.

Now here is the twist. Turns out this is a LEFT HAND octo and not a standard reg. I was staring at the body and diagram for a few minutes before I realized what was different. From the Scubapro Regulator Museum, it says this reg was only made for one year, 1977.

So have I stumbled upon a rare find worth millions or a white elephant that has no practical use? As I'm still searching for a 109 or BA, is there anyone willing to trade for the left hand model?

Perhaps a rare white elephant. I have seen maybe a couple others and there is another on ebay now. Clip is easy to make if you can find the right diameter stock (brass works well). Good luck finding a left handed exhaust tee.

That is what I thought, a rare white elephant. As to the left handed exhaust tee, I think you are confusing this with a dacor reg.

The exhuast tee not only needs to be left handed, but safety orange too.

If this weren't the DIY section, I would mention that I have a few extra clips (I'm assuming you mean the stop pin) and you can PM me if you need one but you gotta try to make one first per Master Awap.

How I wish that were true. The aforementioned post, where I said "Couv is out of parts" was to stop the flow of PMs and email request for parts-mainly for covers and tees that we purchased in the group buy. However, it does so happen that I have a couple of extra stop pins, but my favorite is one was made by The Master himself....you ain't getting that one.

I was able to get a little time this weekend, clean all the parts, install the new o-rings and assemble the regulator. I am amazed as how simple this design is. Unfortunately I didn't have a lot of time to play around with adjustments. I do have a leak, but it seems top when the adjustment knob is screwed in, so I think a little adjustment on the orifice should do it. I have it paired with the MK3 I rebuilt. I have Magnehelic I got from eBay, I just need to get it mounted to a piece of plywood to keep it level and stable. Picked up the tubing and fittings.
