actually for the dive to count the the minimum time is 30 mins and the depth should be deeper than 25 feet.
I'm curious where you got that because I've never heard it before. Do you have a reference?

Since diving is a self-regulated industry (at least among the major nations, not going to assume it is everywhere), I was under the impression that the only definitions of "a dive" that mattered were your own and anyone who was looking through your log book to determine if you met their criteria of "experienced enough", generally to take a class.

my whole body hurts like hell but what the hey, i'm young, free and invincible (to quote chip). i had a great time, guys. got 28 logged dives na. woo hoo!!!

no doubt all of you could have done it. except for the oldies, of course (o ayan, extra challenge) ha ha!

extra challenge? no way Ate..told you it'll hurt. Hanggang tuesday yan.

btw, what's next? Maybe for the guinness records, a 24 hour dive marathon!

its my criteria. 30 mins seemed like a good average time. not too long, not too short either. ive done many numerous dives that lasted 10-15 mins and stayed less than 20 ft but i do not call it a dive merely a dip.

i feel totally fine even went to the gym today the a couple of beers after:)

iris_ice:
your stamina is simply astounding. grabe...

as long as you are consistent sa cardio and gym kayang kaya yan. i am also astounded at how you and chip could go out last night. all i could think about was gatorade and my pillow:)

Thanks guys. I have to admit though, I got 28 mins on dive number 4 - so to meet spoon's criteria I only did 9 dives. :) I think I'll stick with Halthrons...We found some really cool stuff exploring around. Iris and I lasted till 2am (Iris even longer kasi she had to take the taxi home!) - had some celebratory beers at my friend's party then headed home.

Today I woke up at 12pm still feeling like mash potatoes. Though I was still able to proxy as a sponsor for my tita's wedding.

And don't think to discredit Halthron - He did 5 dives! That's a heck of a lot! Then he drove all the way back to Manila in the traffic! Not to mention finding time to play hero at an accident. NOW THAT'S IRONMAN!!!

And I give it up to Moonie for being to haul a55 along side spoon! Your complaints were adorable!

The next time I plan on going to DnT again is to do two things:
* dive to the cave we found and check it out
* dive all the way to portulano and have lunch with Pao!

Thanks for all the constructive feedback in the other thread guys. Without them, we wouldn't have covered all the bases (ex getting dive comps).

btw Iris, the quote is we're young, free, reckless and invincible! :)

I'm still filling out my dive log, but here are some highlights:
* Green Turtle just chilling until Iris scared it off.
* School of yellow tailed barracudas
* Cave and narrow "blue lagoon" passage - seriously, it was beautiful. I just wish the sun was shining to complete the effects. This is my ultimate highlight
* penetrating bat "cave" - in quotations cause I question whether it should be called a cave! :)
* surfacing in a quarry half way between portulano and DnT
* taking some kick a55 pics of spoon and his twins
* being able to use my new rig (that's right, it's mine! You hear that pao? I PAID NA! :))
* school of tuna
* Cuttlefish
* Halthron, Iris and I getting separated from Moonie and Spoon but then finding ourselves again.
* fixing Iris' BP/W
* mantis shrimp
* Playing "let's get the giant clams to close up" with Iris
* seahorse in the quarry - don't know what kind of seahorse but it was long and thin.
* taking some nice shots with Spoon's camera
* being able to navigate (I know it's pretty darn easy at DnT, but still!)

ishbaby:
I envy you guys, could have done the 10 dives myself . . (even otherwise warned by PAO) Sick as hell, but Im feelin' better now. (Actually I don't since I wasn't able to go) Darn, till PPD-DM 2 . . I always had to come the 2nd time around.
hey ish, glad you're feeling better. Don't worry, as you can see from my highlights list, you didn't miss much. :wink: Next time na lang - if there ever is!

hey Halthron,

the benthic life you pointed out was plerogyra sinuosa, common name: Rounded Bubble Coral

I also looked up the large fish we saw on dive #1 and I think it was a midnight snapper...

Spoon:
plan your dive, dive your plan we were delayed towards dive 9 and ten as iris sta wingnut cam eloose and chip had to improvise ala mcgyver.

Thanks spoon. Although remember: I can fix a BP/W with just a weightbelt, reef hook, and clip...but chuck norris can kill me and take it.
