Are you being intentionally dense?
Same diver, same size cylinder, shallower avg depth = longer dive.
I thought i articulated myself clearly...
I've had too many friends die diving deep on air to advocate for it. I don't condemn it, I just don't advocate for it.Tell me you've never dove deep air without telling me. Clown show at its finest. Comparing deep air to DUI is beyond stupid.
Yes there are better ways, but it's been done safely for decades. You don't have to but don't mock those who choose to. Stay above 100 and keep your little tikes regulator tightly gripped in your mouth.
With 'My mind goes blank' I will experiment while freediving, it doesn't always have to be black or nothing.I don't have experience free diving and I don't take meditation classes. I find diving just relaxes me. My mind goes blank and I don't really think. It's like my brain takes a rest and so does my body. I grew up playing wind instruments Trombone and Euphonium and you had to learn to hold long notes so breathing and doing long slow exhales to play was required. Just took lots of practice, some notes you force the air some notes you use as little air as possible. I don't know if that is why. I breathe the same at home when resting as well.
Well, a post without the usual accusations here, bravo!I've had too many friends die diving deep on air to advocate for it. I don't condemn it, I just don't advocate for it.
There is no need to train the human body and mind for deep air. Just use the correct mix. No problem. As an old diver, I remember the times when practically only air and thus air deep was the norm for sport divers. There were also accidents because divers struggled with the demands in combination with impairments associated with air deep. Nowadays, divers usually dive much shallower with air, so we older divers think there shouldn't be many accidents anymore. Unfortunately, that's not the case, and there must be reasons for that.
Speleo, as an instructor, you might be able to tell me how you prepare the students to deal with the requirements of dense air, CO2, high pPO2, and narcosis due to CO2, O2, and N2.
Or are these issues considered to be only avoidable through technology?
So what do you do to train the human body and mind for this?
How old are you old divers making 60m air dives? Just curious about the olden days when you decided your diving path? Are you 80? When did you start diving then tec/deco on air?
I have zero respect for those that dive stupid crap and then advocate its' use to new divers.Show respect to those who choose to dive differently than you.
