Hi all,

Has anyone come across a generic version of the Ammonite connector? I'm making a heated vest and could do with some of these connectors without having to order and cannibalise brand new (expensive!) cables

One thing to note here - those 2 o-rings on the connector are the only sealing against the accumulator which doesn't have any sealing of its own so if you build your own cable you better ensure you have o-rings of the correct size, shore hardness and in the correct place on the connerctor - otherwise you will end up flooding the battery compartment.

At least - when my accumulator flooded that was the response from Ammonite - only sealed via the 2 o-rings.

Yeah it's quite a fiddly connector. Need to get a new thread gauge as it didn't fit any of the standard ones I have! I wish there were more options than this or E/O...

There is also Lumberg. Juergensen Marine were using them at one point on their rebreather electronics. I'm not sure what current draw they are rated for though.

If you are willing to pay then there are more reliable versions of the E/O connector/cable manufactured for the subsea industry.

If you do work out what the thread is, I'd love to know!

Is that light output ratet for high enough capcities to power a heated vest? I thought only the Ammonite lights for light/charger plug and EO for anyone requiring some power.

I got my hands on an old Fa&Mi canister torch that I'm using the parts from, and it has ammonite-style connectors - have put 4.5A through it to the vest no problem
