Some rather disturbing alarmist comments here. Everyone has to make their own decision on where they want to travel to and where they feel comfortable. I don't pretend to be an expert on Egypt - I've been there for 3 dive holiday trips during the past 5 years, both with and without family (Dahab & Marsa alam land-based; southern Egypt liveaboard).
That said, if I was still living in Europe and was looking for an easy-to-get to, reasonably priced dive holiday with good to excellent quality diving....Egypt would still be at the top of my list.
