Hi everyone!
My partner and I have just returned from our first Aquacat trip (not the last!) and want to share our experience with fellow divers.
While I have been on many other liveaboards, this was my partner's first. She is a vegetarian, and sometimes it is difficult to find imaginative, healthy meals as we travel. Not so here. Chef Kirk was, with only two hours notice before leaving dock, able to gather groceries to prepare a full weeks worth of meals for her. Not your salad and pasta meals, but interesting, well presented and tasty (I admit to sharing) meals at every sitting! Her brother is a chef and she has traveled extensively for 30 years, and to quote her "I have never been offered so many fabulous choices, anywhere!" Quite a statement! All meals aboard were greeted with pleasure by all guests, an accomplishment in itself.
Our room was large, with a huge king-size bed, private bath, and two really large windows. Sunrises and sunsets were spectacular. The Aquacat itself is spacious, spotless and the multi deck layout assured that we never felt confined at anytime. The sundeck was a popular meeting spot for post and between dive relaxation.
The crew... I could go into great detail about the great qualities of each and every one, suffice to say they are all stars in their own right! Helpful, knowledgeable and fun to be around. This crew like and respect one another and it shows.
Diving was always a pleasure, with excellent pre-dive briefings, guides for those who chose to tour, and as much bottom-time as we could safely enjoy. A nice change from some operators and their rigid 45 minute dive times.
All in all, a wonderful trip. We will definitely be back!
