Ok im posting this here because the beach crabs are my friends and i want your imput.

Over the past few days I've come across a few threads that involved people doing some really stupid things. One uncertified snorkler wants to get a spare air bottle so he can stay underwater longer so he can catch fish for his tropical fish tank. Another CERTIFIED diver let his 5 year-old son use his spare air bottle in the deep end of his pool just to play around and thought nothing of it and was proud of it. Is it just me or is all this outrageously stupid and dangerous? Is the fact that i am outraged and disturbed by the carelessness of these people out of line or justified?

I cant help it no matter how hard i try i still cant figure out why common sense isn't common

Aly, people are dumb, don't be too surprised or shocked by their actions.

Couldn't have said it better myself. All you can usually hope for is Darwinism takes care of some of it for us by eliminating the dangerously stupid...

The snorkeler, maybe dumb. The dad, really really really dumb. Might as well give the kid a gun.

Thank you...if you read the thread he's still arguing saying it ws the same as letting the kid snorkle

Common sense is common, just not with stupid people :) Aly you're 22, I think we should perform an experiment. Every time you see something idiotic note the date. I'm guessing the older you get the amount of idiotic things you see will grow exponentially. :) I know it has for me in the past 6 years!

Billy

I'll heartily second that!

I'm thirty and the past ten years have been amazing...my dad is seventy. He wonders how the rest of us are still alive.

You want to see the biggest ratio of idiots to people with common sense?

Enlist...

LOL. i saw enough military idiots as an NROTC Midshipman and a Sea Cadet thank you very much. But at least those idiots dont risk their or their childrens lives most of the time

Wow, Amazing:shakehead:

The snorkel question-just someone that needs info

The spare air comment- Unexceptable. What amazes me is that there are a few that don't think there is anything wrong with it. All I can say is, this re enforces my thoughts about this dive industry and the training practices that are installed, into individuals, by Instructors, then the Individuals go on to be Instructors, only keep training the same way. On and on, the cycle is never broken. For someone to be SCUBA certified, yet don't know there is a possibility of getting bent in 3' of water.

< walks away shaking head!!!!!!
