Apparently Europe (the U.K.?) has other standards for an inspection than the U.S. A while back there were a some threads on a few U.K. based forums mentioning a certain brand of manifold (Beaver, I think) that was getting failed regularily at tank inspection time for having the threads out of spec. The claim by the inspectors was that the threads were cut out of spec at the factory (to loose by whatever standard and instrument they use to measure). Obviously, if it were that big an issue we would have heard about all of the divers dying from blunt force trauma in the back of the head due to 1st stage reg thread failure. Fortunately in the U.S we don't have this added unnecessary point to our inspections.
