I am thinking about doing a bit of diving around Whitsuntide (around may 19 to May 26).
I would prefer to go to Marsa Alam, but it is difficult to get direct flights. As I don't need a house reef, I thought about going somewhere close to Hurghada Airport.
Is the diving around there as good as in Marsa Alam?
Finally, as my travel dates are during Ramadan, will this affect the service in the airport, the hotel etc.?
Cheers,
Liberty

Hi,

I just looked it up on TUI , they show flights to Marsa Alam from FRA.

Of course there is good diving in the Hurghada area and off-shore. Makadi Bay and Soma Bay have excellent dive spots, also further North from El Gouna you can reach famous Sha'ab El Erg with Dolphin House and Poseidon Gardens.

Yes, there are flights, but I hope to have more options for flights to Hurghada as my holiday dates are more or less fixed.
I was in Hurghada in 1997, and the diving there was a big disappointment after Bunaken. I would expect the reefs around Hurghada to be more corwded and less pristine than in Marsa Alam. However, there is a new Extra Divers shop in Sahl Hasheesh
