My alternate air source leaks air a little..any ideas on how to fix? It is brand new.

More information...

What kind of alt air source do you have?

If it's brand new and leaks, I'd return it.

If it's brand new there are two likely possibilities.

One would be that the octo has been on the shelf for awhile and the seating groove in the soft seat is a bit deeper than when it was tuned. It needs adjusted or perhaps a new soft seat needs to be installed.

The other likely possibility is that it needs to be tuned to your first stage, particularly if your first stage's intermediate presure is running on the high side of the normal range at around 140-145 psi.

Your local dive shop should be able to resolve the problem in a few minutes and will do it for free if you bought the octo there.

If it is an Air 2, or similar integrated octo/inflator device the same 2 potential problems apply, the adjustment process is just a bit different.

Although DA explains it well, if it is brand new I would take it back tot he shop and they will fix it no problem.
