+1 for the Legend LX Supreme, I own one.

The only down side I have is the weight, it's great working reg, just a tad on the heavy side this could be a problem when traveling (weight restrictions)

The Titan LX Supreme is also a great reg, if you don't need the extra HP Port on the Legend I would seriously consider the Titan it's considerably lighter than the Legend, with little performance compromises.

The MK17 is also a great reg, though its important to keep up the services on it since this one has expensive parts comparatively to all the other SP...

My LDS told me that my Apeks need to come in annually to keep the parts warranty......I think Atomics is the only one with a 2 year service period.

Thanks for correcting. Over the course of 10 years the savings will be in excess of $600-$700 I would venture to guess. I wish I had gone the Atomic route years back...:shakehead:

I heard Atomic charges for parts. Is this true? Dive Rite does not. I have a Legend and several DR regs. Going to buy another one soon.

While on subject....Does anyone know of a work-around with regard to restablishing the free parts program with SP? What a crock of $#&% to null and void if one year is missed.

Its seems like everyone agrees that both regs will meet my needs and others had other regs that would as well.

Others brought another issue that i hadn't considered before, repair/upkeep cost.

It seems like the MK17/G250V is a solid reg but replacement parts (if not covered under warranty?) are very expensive and general upkeep is rather expensive when compared to other regs.

On the other hand, the AL Legend ACD Supreme is also a good reg, is less costly to repair and general upkeep is also less. People have also stated that it is easier to get AL's repaired away from your LDS if something were to go wrong on a trip.

I guess my question now would be; Is the SP MK17/G250V worth the extra money? It seems that everyone who dives a SP is happy with their product, its tough and reliable while not many things have been said about the AL reg. (I have a LDS 10 minutes from my house that can repair/inspect SP's. $65 for first and second stage w/ Octo + parts and labor, though i would probably get parts on the gray market)

I think if you miss the year date you will pay for parts to get it caught up but then if you resume bringing it in within the year after that you get free parts. But that's also only for the original owner. I only take my scubapro stuff in every 2 years, but my LDS just gives me the parts for free. It's the LDS that's supposed to enforce that rule. My LDS keeps all the parts in stock so Scubapro doesn't really know what's going on with each individual customer.

Add:
I've heard that Aqualung is still making the military version of the Conshelf with a metal second stage. The US military has rated this reg to 190 feet and 37 degrees farenheit. The conshelf has the same parts as a Titan and the design hasn't changed since the 60's (internally) There are more Conshelf parts around the world than any other brand and will continue to be for a very long time.
I'm thinking the next reg I get might be this just because it's extremely simple and bullet proof.

Interesting. I have dropped some major coin at my LDS the past 15 months with my entrance into tec while also nearly totally refitting my rec gear as well. If I can't negoiate free reg parts based upon those facts I may as well buy sword and fall on it being in sales all my life. Thanks! :) That said, I still wish I had gone the Atomic route years ago so I would not have to monkey with this every year....:shakehead:

I've been looking at the SP mk17/G250V and the AL legend ACD supreme.

Can't go wrong with either. I've got 350+ dives on my AL Legend LX Supreme - warm, cold (35f), fresh, salt - and have never had a problem.

My opinion is that the MK17 is not worth more money than the Legend, the Legend LX Supreme ACD is the Top of the Line Reg that Aqualung makes. Reliability is Great and the ACD adds a added protection to the 1st stage from accidental submersion/drop in the sand by effectively sealing off the 1st stage when it is not on a cylinder, one less thing to worry about. Also unlike the Oceanic System it's not reliant on Cylinder pressure but mechanical activation when being attached to the tank, and this is a much more reliable system IMO.

Get the Legend LX and you won't be disappointed.

Actually I wish I'd gone with Atomic also. I think it's ultimately a better product then Scubapro.
I think they slip me free parts when I'm over the limit to keep me coming in. I have options as to where I can take my stuff if they piss me off and they know it.
