I'm a Fish!
We are heading to Coz at the end of August for two weeks. For most of that time we will not be staying at an all-inclusive, but DH has expressed an interest in staying at an all-inclusive for two or three days to just laze by the pool, drink cerveza and margaritas and eat eat eat! It's his 10th anniversary, too, so I am looking for tips. I figure we do it on our last days there as we won't be able to dive the day before we fly anyway.

With the Aus dollar sinking, we are not looking at spending a fortune for those nights. We need a comfortable room, a nice pool to laze around - a must is a swimup pool bar, good drinks & good food.

Can it be done? Where would you look?

The FA has all the criteria that you mentioned, I was there last month with the all inclusive package and loved it. The food was hit and miss for me, but I'm pretty picky. The swim up bar was fun, although they only have 4 stools and they close early because they have to start serving the dinner crowd. After that you'll have to get out of the pool to get your drinks at a bar near the lounge area, not far though.

Hmm..looking at the links it looks like they might have taken out the swim up bar, and placed a kiddie slide in the pool. (I stayed there 7 years ago)

Maybe the CozumelInsider AKA Sherry knows more.

Hi, I'm new to the board :)

FYI, we are going to Coz for over a week in July, and I wanted to laze around someplace nice for two days since we can't dive before we fly. I discovered Isla Mujeres. It looks like a quaint island that gorgeous, relaxed and a perfect place to sit on a beautiful beach. I've heard great things. Hotels are only $100 per night per room, or some are even less. Norte (North) Beach looks ideal. We are taking a taxi from Playa Del Carmen to the Isla ferry, which is about 15 min from the Cancun airport. The ferry is about 30 min over to the island. An easy, inexpensive trip. And someplace new to try.

Have fun!

Hi, Caryn. Welcome to Scubaboard.

I take it that you are flying home out of Cancun; otherwise it's a pretty long round trip to Isla from Cozumel. I'd count on at least 3 hours travel time each way.

And two days before flying? I usually depart Coz on the noon thirty Continental flight to Houston, and I nearly always do a morning two tanker the previous day. YMMV.

Cheers,

Hmmm, this isn't sounding very positive! Any ideas out there? Location isn't an issue as it's only for a couple of days and if we really want to into town it's only a couple of cab fares. We will have had over 10 days to look around in town and eat out...DH just wants to abdicate all concious thought and relax for a day or two!

The El Cozumeleno is very nice- meets all your criteria, I think it's a 4+ star resort. But it's the only place that I've actually stayed in at Coz. We'll be there again on Sat., I'm sooooo ready! Have a great time!

Off the top of my head, I think there are 9 all-inclusives on Coz. The four hotels south are: Iberostar, Allegro Occidental, Reef Club & Grand Cozumel-Occidental. Two north are: Melia, El Cozumeleno. Three a little south of town are: Fiesta Americana, Park Royal & Hotel Cozumel/Brisas.
I hope I haven't missed any AI. You should do a search on the web & find out all the details about each property. You'll be able to narrow it down, to what will be just right for you & DH.

I was at the Grand Occidental in May. Rule that one out. It does not have a swim up bar, and the food on the buffet was below average.
