Thanks guys. I think we've hit on a plan for what to do. Since the group of people that we've got lined up to go enjoy their alcohol we're going to go with AI. Most likely Fiesta Americana but maybe Occidental. I never even thought of the convienence of getting breakfast/lunch before the boat shows up. We'll hit the town for dinners without a doubt.
An excellent plan, you get the best of both the adventure dining in town and the convenience of having food ready when ever you are. I thought the food at FA was at least OK, and some of it was really good, the stuff you order off a menu and the fancy dinner restaurant upstairs. To order off the menu, you have to eat at the restaurant down by the water and you do have to ask for a menu.

I was traveling with my 2 kids and my wife is not at all interested in "Adventure Dining" like I am, so the AI was great for us. I did manage to take my son into town one evening to eat. The whole week we were there, he had a craving for Conch Civeche. According to Roberto of Liquid Blue, the only place in Cozumel that had it in December was La Conchita del Caribe. We went there and it was very good. I'd recommend the restaurant as excellent seafood of good value. I wish I was there right now in fact.

If you stay at the Ox or another one of the resorts on the south end, and you plan to do dinner every night in town, you might want to look at renting a car for the duration of your stay. It might be more economical.
