You know, it would be fun to make this an island-wide event. Maybe a shop or shops can host it and provide pizza and beer. They can bring as many staff as they want, or think need this, and we can make an entire evening of it. Cozumel is one of our more 'hostile' forums and it just doesn't have to be. If all the shops banded together to do this right, the acrimony can go way down, the fun way up and that would result in an increase in traffic for everyone. Tuesday would be the night I would choose. What say ye, Cozu-DiveOps?

EDIT=>
OK, OK, I know that American Dive Ops thrive on pizza and beer. I have no idea what our Mexican amigos go for. I'm open for anything. :D :D :D

The irony of that is that we (dive shops) HAVE banded together - there are MANY of us who are friends and at least have very nice professional relationships. There are now 40+ shops who have banded together, working to establish regular meetings to discuss different issues we face, promotions, events, etc. (we've already met twice since the Secrets debacle and 3rd meeting is being planned). We are all working together on solutions to help each other, the island, and the industry as a whole. Honestly, it's the cheerleaders for the different ops that create the illusion that we are "enemies" - many of us laugh about it.

I don't want to wade into the fray regarding all that has been said already or comment directly on anything related to the original post. Not that I don't have my own opinions and haven't been tempted- LOL!

However, after reading all 13 pages, I thought I would just share something that I have been thinking for some time now and this thread has confirmed for me:

1. The Cozumel forum is likely one of the most polarizing forums on the Board. So much so, that it has caused me to think 2 or 3 times before posting anything.
2. Passions, preferences, history and allegiances run strong here on the Board for COZ Dive Ops, Restaurants, Accommodations, Transportation..... you name it. Therefore,
3. Positive reviews will likely be met with both praise and derision.
4. Negative reviews will likely be met with both praise and derision.
5. Positive/Negative reviews of anything Cozumel will likely be met with both praise and derision.
6. This post will likely be met with both praise and derision- ;)

Lots of us on this forum treat Cozumel and all of its people and entities like one of our children or grandchildren. Thus:

1. We might be quick to defend
2. We might be quick to react
3. We might be quick to defend and react before thinking or considering everything or putting things into context
4. All common sense and rationality can quickly get thrown out the window when we perceive that someone is attacking "our baby"

Long Live COZUMEL!

That sounds a lot like my philosophy 101 class many moons ago lol! Or the LSAT :D

I see a 6' x 3' x 10' deep grave waiting for this tread. Someone out there must have a new topic to start a new thread and let this one rest in peace.

I dunno. The Anita thread died at 15 pages and 148 posts. You don’t think we should set a new record?
