AL80 Worth the trouble?

If they're Catalina, you could still use them, but the tech divers generally won't want them (because they're "butt heavy"), so that will reduce the market if you ever want to sell them.

The Catalina and Luxfer AL80 specs on the tdl web site are virtually identical. Is there some other Luxfer AL model with better characteristics?

Couldn't say for sure, but he may be speaking of the Catalina C-series (I have a C80). It's a 3300psi, 80cf alum. tank with steel tank buoyancy characteristics. The way they did this was to thicken the butt end of the tank (as well as the walls, slightly). It didn't effect my trim negatively, however, I still prefer the steel for the reasons I mentioned earlier.

If anyone wants to buy the C80, let me know... It's within hydro, and just needs a current viz... I've used it as my nitrox tank...

The Cats trim differently. They're heavier on the bottom. Some people don't care for that.
