Here are some photos that I took during a visit to Akumal in March of this year. All the underwater photos were taken while snorkeling (I don't scuba dive). I liked the Akumal area a lot, especially the cenotes because snorkeling in clear freshwater was something I had never done before. The cenotes really are a treasure. Ocean snorkeling in Akumal Bay was fun and convenient, but not quite as good as other places in the western Caribbean that I have visited, which include Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Roatan, and Belize. The visibility at Akumal was not as good, and there generally was less diverse fish life and corals. However, I had done my homework and was not expecting as much in Akumal as in these other locales that are known to be world-class diving spots. If anyone would like some info about Akumal, feel free to PM me.
