Luc Dupas:
It's sounds nice indeed... but I'm simply wondering if you can do this actually faster than simply reaching for your secondary with your hand? Let's assume an emergency situation... your buddy is signalling you in distress that he's got a severe OOA... you look at your buddy and you keep looking at him all the time, you don't want to even get him out of your sight for even a split second... with your right hand you take your primary from your mouth and hand it over to your buddy, still looking at him all the time... would you manage to get your necklaced secondary in your mouth without using your hands and still keeping an eye on your buddy??? Grabbing your secondary (necklaced, or AirII on the corrugated hose, or a regular octo mounted at the left) with your left hand and putting it in your mouth only takes a split second, and you can do this "blind" while keeping an eye on your buddy all the time...
BTW... my UW camera is attached to my BCD via a small rope and snap hook, as well is my lamp, etc.... so I can always drop whatever I have in my hands and have my hands free to help my buddy!

Using my hand is easier and that's what I usually do. If you retrieve the backup with your mouth then you need to fumble around a little bit to get it to go in and also turn your head down (break visual contact with buddy) while you do it. I'm not saying it's a superior method to use or absolutely critical to know, just that it's a nice option or convenience in some situations.

How much does it cost to get the SS1 serviced?

I haven't had it two years yet, so certain at this point. You could call ScubaToys and get an estimate from them.

Last, I want to be able to retrieve my backup without use of my hands.

Not to hijack, but why?

That's what some people recommend and it seems like a good idea to me. Not critical, but something that could come in handy when your hands are full otherwise - mostly as a convenience.

However, it's not the main reason I like a bungeed backup. The main reason was that it stows the backup neatly out of the way and in a place where it's easily accessible.

I never seen anybody having the bungee Air 2. But, why not? I might try it when I hit the deep water with the deco plan. I hope my buddy won't be scared. I don't know why though.....;)

When I tried to attche Air 2 on the Eclipse wing, I got the same question, "WHY?" again and again ;) However, it works great with the Eclipse single set so far within the rec. range.

Mine is in the shop right now. I'll post after I get it back.

$19.95

Got it serviced where I bought it. YMMV.

Just got an airsource 2 for 31 bucks. Although my other set-up has a traditional octo, I couldn't pass up the chance to try something different for 31 bucks.

Maybe they should put up another sub-forum here: the Air2, AirXS, Airsource forum to accomodate the many threads. Just a thought though :D :deadhorse:
