I have been told that there is a mixture of alcohol and vinegar that divers use in their ears after dives. Any truth to this and anybody know the recipe? Is it better than swimmers ear? Thanks in advance.

One half white vinegar & one half rubbing alcohol does it for me....

This is a frequent topic, and there are many similar variants of mixtures. Try doing a search on here for the term "ear beer".

Add a bit of glycerin to the above 50/50 mix. The alcohol can "over-dry" your ear causing it to itch. The bit of glycerin left behind will take care of that.

I've heard 50% alcohol and 50% distilled white vinegar, and I've heard 1/3 with the final 1/3 as distilled water.

Both work fine for me, and an ENT said I have 'beautiful ears'.

I hit the pool almost daily, and have been using this for two years.

PS - look at the ingredients in "Swimmers' Ear" . . . alcohol.

Don't for get to make a fresh mix at least monthly!!!!!

Yep, I use the 1/3 alcohol/distilled water/white vinegar solution, and have used it for years. I add a couple drops of peroxide to the mix too. (Works good on my dog too, with those wet spaniel ears.. in case anybody is interested).
Jax, good idea on the mix monthly, though I have never had a problem with mix being a year old.
