Hay,
Im wanting to buy a new dive computer. Im fairly new to diving and I have read alot
of good reviews on the Aeris XR1 Wrist mounted dive computer and cheap aswel (~$140)
And I was woundering weather or not I should Buy one. If someone owns one can they tell me what its like eg. comfort, reliability, Feature's, Safety. I live in Jamaica now so I normaly only dive in tropical salt water and dont realy need a nitrox ready computer.

Thanks In Advance :)

I have one, as well as its brother (Veo100Nx).

Its the Toyota Corolla of diver computers. Not fancy, just works and keeps on working. The battery is really only good for 35 dives, not 50 as claimed, but its easy to replace by yourself for about $5. It is as comfortable as any dive computer and it really has no special features. It will turn on automatically, record you last 12 dives and you can switch it into gauge mode. It has a primitive dive planner, basically just tells you your NDR for different depths. These are expected in all computers as far as I know.

I prefer the veo (same basic computer, with a few extras + nitrox for about 180) as it has a few features that are nice, but not required such as a blinky red light to catch your eye when you are a bad boy and back lighting and IMO its a little easier to read. Its supposed to have a audible alarm - I never hear it. I continue to use the XR1 as backup.

With both computers, you really have to read the manual to understand the alternate screens. The default screen (depth and NDR) is simple, the alternates are slightly confusing as first.

Hay thanks mate I will still probebly be geting the XR1 as an entry level computer and when or if I need a new one I can just sell it and buy a better computer.

I have an XR-1. It does everything a new diver would need. Not only that, it is easy to operate. I bought mine because I had blown my budget on a better regulator (Atomic Z2), a VERY worthwhile purchase, and had to skimp on the computer

I have one of the original ones without nitrox capability on my backup regs. I used it for a couple of years before upgrading. Toyota Carrolla of dive computers is a pretty good description. It is a good solid basic computer that just works. User replaceable batteries that can be found a Wal-Mart and very easy to do. For the money I don't think you could do any better.

does either of these come with a cable and a software so that you can log your dives on a computer as well? I am trying to find a good cheap dive computer that can connect to a pc. I was just PADI certified a couple months ago and I am trying to get entry level equipment before I go diving again. Thanks in advance for the help.
