Hello,

Does anyone use one of these or another hoseless air integrated computer?

I just bought the Aeris T3 and I am reading the instruction book and it says that
the transmitter sends signals out parallel or at a 45 degree angle.

So the transmitter is mounted on the Reg 1st stage behind your head - and the signals radiate outward - so do you constantly have a lost signal unless you stick
your arm out?

I had hoped to keep my arms crossed in front of me while swimming - then casually glance down at my Computer/Watch every so often. It would really suck if when I check my Computer its always flashing with a lost signal.

Then I would have to stick my arm out for a little bit until the signal is found. I know the signal comes back in a few seconds but how does this affect the way it keeps track of your air comsumption?

Anyone have good or bad experiences with this type of computer?

I have a VT3 (wife has an Atom). Even with your arms folded in front of you you will not lose the signal......ive done over 50 dives with mine and never had a problem

I'm interested to hear feedback from other users as well. I just bought this this weekend and I'll be using it for the first time when I got to Coz February 17th.

Very Cool - glad to hear that.

My wife and I will be using ours for the first time this weekend.

I got a little worried because in the instruction booklet there is a whole section on where to place the transmitter for best reception and about having a lost signal, etc.

I'm thinking what? best reception areas - it's only gonna be 2 feet away from the tranmitter it should always be connected.

Thanks for the info.

I have the standard elite, not the T3, but mine has worked fine. I have only seen 2 of the VT3's. One had a bad transmitter and the other had a bad battery in the dive comp itself. Since I believe the transmitters are the same from the elite the bad transmitter appeared to be a fluke and was quickly rectified by the LDS/Oceanic. The bad battery in the dive comp, well, maybe it was a demo unit and was constantly on at the LDS, I don't know. The point is I would at the very minimum carry a spare battery for both the dive comp and transmitter. If at all possible I'd try to dive the computer before your trip even if it is only in a pool just to make sure you have it working well. It would be a bummer to have this nice new computer on vacation only to discover it doesn't work and you have to rent or dive tables.

Had a couple DATAMX PRo's and currently have a pair of VT Pro's pretty shure the Oceanic and Atomas are made in the same factory - but I could be wrong...

Anyway I have NEVER lost signal underwater --

Getting them to link on the surface to check your tank press before the dive can be frustrating sometimes - Sometime have to hold your mouth just right to get them to link out of the water -

Although I wouldn't recomend it I have gone ahead and dove with out being able to link on the boat and once underwater it linked up fine...................

Took my new VT3 to Cozumel last week for a week of diving. Only lost connection once for about 2-3 seconds. I think it was as a boat was passing by overhead while I was down at 30ft or so, so it may have been putting out some serious RF interference (would have to be to reach that far in water).

I was typically swimming with my arms folded beneath me or slightly out in front of my chest so I could read the display. I'll try and double check the data downloaded to my computer to see when it was I lost link, as I believe that's one of the variables that gets downloaded.

Didn't have a problem linking up on the surface, just holding down the S side button for 2 seconds turns on the receiver to do a battery check on the transmitter. Worked when I was sitting next to the tank and the regulator was pressurized.

I wouldn't be too worried about losing link. Having said that, I dive with a gauge console as well, just in case of computer failure, including link failure.
