I figured I would give my input about this BC, even tho I have only used one other BC before. I just bought this one and really like it. I feel like I have so much more freedom of movement with it, and it is very comfortable. Thats just my 2 cents about this BC. If anyone is interested in getting it, let me know and I may be able to answer some of their questions.
I've heard that's a good one. We sell that one... people really seem to like it.

How do I calculate the lift capacity I need?

Hi to all, I am looking for a new bcd and am considering both the Aeris Reef Rider and the Zeagle Escape. They are indeed two beautiful bc's. I just can't decide... I could get them for about the same price, so price is not an issue. Lift capacity is, but how do you calculate the amount of lift one needs?

I got to try the zeagle on in a shop but I havo no chance of seeing the aeris other than on the internet, so I'd like to know a little better about how the weight pockets work... I mean, how do you ditch and how do you load? Is it easy to get the weights out while in the water and pass them to the boat? (are they difficult to reach? and to grab?)

I like the aeris' storage pockets, they look bigger than the escape's. I like the escape's trim pockets, whose location I find more convenient than on the tank strap.

Any input is highly welcome.
Thanks!
I looked at both. How to caculate lift???? Beats me...... I just know it works. I'm 5'11 and about 198 lbs on a good day and the lift seems fine to me. I bought the Zeagle because of about a 80 dollar price differance. Zeagle is been doing this for a long, long time.Maybe longer than Areis. Just liked the all black and the Zeagle logo I guess. Either one will work for you I guess it just depends which one makes you look cooler.
The Zeagle has a ripcord ditch system/Hopefully I will never have to pull it anyway. Chances are you won't. Removing the weights are not a problem. I have a 4pounder in each front pocket and a 2 pound one in each trim pocket on the tank. I only hand off the 4 pounders. Keep watching the price on the Zeagle. I here they are changing the Escape a little this year so you maybe able to get a better deal,,,I did.

Well... I thought there would be either some complicated formula or some simple rule of thumb to calculate the lift one needs... or maybe not. But I also think 24 lbs should be enough for me. Of course some more lift would be useful, especially in case I need to lift my buddy or those heavy gold bars I will eventually find one day... :-)
Anyway, I know the Escape might undergo a restyling or a replacing soon, but it's hard to know when and how.
As for the looks, I'm not really concerned... I look cool with anything... ;-)

ahhhhh You might look cooler in an all black zeagle. I think the reef rider is a few different colors on it. Hell if your pulling up gold bars in the med then you should be able to buy both of them
