I'm looking for some help on purchasing a second wetsuit for diving in waters no colder than 50F. Currently I have only dived in the Caribbean, I am now thinking I will try some diving in southern Ontario. My current regulator limits me to 50F waters, and I don't have much interest in investing in a whole new set of gear until I 'm sure going to dive in these northern waters.

So, I'm considering either a 7mm one piece, or a 2 piece farmer john setup.

Any help or suggestions on which is a better route to go. what other accessories (boots, gloves, hoods) I may need. Which one is less restrictive.

Thanks for the help....

FJ, 2 piece.

Unless you have an off-the-rack body, you should seriously consider a custom suit. Especially in cold water, fit is paramount.

Consider a one piece 7mm with the addition of a hooded vest. This will cover a wider range of temperatures. With a two piece the jacket and john are not as much use by themselves so you end up with the bulk even when a 7mm would be sufficient by itself. Bare make a good range of sizes that may allow you to buy off the rack. Ontario diving will soon have you addicted so there will probably be a drysuit in your future.

Semi-Dry with 5mm hoodie. I have a Scubapro Nova Scotia which I love!!!!
