where was your buddy?

have you looked into diving in tahoe?

maybe a weight integrated bcd would be helpful too

Tahoe is in my backyard (well, about 45 minutes away) and that's where I did my training, so actually got altitude diving out of the way too. It is a cold body of water, but actually not too bad with a 7mm suit and hood. More training is my plan.

Ain't that the truth. I work two jobs and still live paycheck to paycheck.
 
tahoe in the summer above the thermocline is a lot warmer than monterey.
My experience was in April and May. Had to start early to avoid the heat. I was always diving in a dry suit.
 
People, the point is for non ideal conditions. Monterrey is cold all year and has bad viz. Diving in those conditions will make tropical dives relatively easy.
