Hi all. I've searched the forums and read some posts but haven't found just want I'm looking for so I thought I'd ask....

My wife and I are planning to drive down to Wazee from Minneapolis next weekend and are looking for a good shallow (<60') dive site in the lake. It's my wife's first non-tropical diving and we're just looking for an easy, shallow dive where we can get some good bottom time and see some stuff. We'll get our air filled locally here and just come down for 1-2 dives before heading home.

I downloaded the lake map and it shows the locations of fish cribs, training platforms, sherwood forest and contour depth lines. But I wonder if anyone can tell me the best place to enter/exit and dive plan for the goals I stated above. I am thinking we'd enter at the south boat landing since the depths in that area look reasonable. How does that sound? Or is there a better dive on the lake somewhere else?

Thanks for any help!

Stop on the way in at Wazee Sports. You can get a nice map and some advice from Keith or 1 of the other employees. For your first dive I would go to the "Sherwood Forest" area. There is an old cabin cruiser you could look at too.

If looking for something nice and easy, I would use the entry near the shallow platform on the west end of the lake. After registering at the entrance, take the road to the right. The first set of tables (for setting up gear) is this entry point. There is a buoy on the shallow platform which you will see.
Gear up enter the water and swim towards the shallow platform, its about 25-30ft or so here. From here turn to the left and follow the road (underwater) you will pass the fish cribs. Going over the edge of the road bed on the right and continuing north you will find a real nice wall. This is just off another excellent entry point with blacktop road right down to the water, another good option for entry point.
Next weekend might find a lot of other divers at Wazee as it is DUI demo weekend I believe. This might be helpful, more divers more information. And of course more silt;)

Great advice, both of you... I didn't know about the DUI Demo Days but now my wife and I are all signed up and excited to go for it!

I'm trying to find someone to dive with on Sunday the 22nd. I'm taking the kids to the Dells over the weekend. I'd like to get in soem diving while in WI and I was trying to find someone to dive with on Sunday morning at Wazee.....but I myself would be a Wazee newbie(still consider myself a diving newbie actually).

I'll be gone by Sunday, but the DUI Demo event will still be going on. You can do drysuit dives, with an instructor, as many times as you want (and have air for).

I think I'll be doing that DUI Rally. I've always wanted to go to one and try out diving dry. But, if Wazee opens earlier, I'd be willing to go early and get in a dive before the rally starts at 9am
