I am ok with flying Lion Air out of Manado, admittedly the flights arent as regular as out of Makassar but all of the airlines flying this neck of the wood have difficult online booking sites from what ive seen. Air Srijiwaya are as good as any airline flying, but make sure you get your tickets booked properly because ive tried to change bookings and customer service doesnt exist with many airlines here. Enjoy your trip. Im sure there are still direct flights from Singapore to Manado.

Has anyone yet taken the Jakarta-Ambon-Sorong flight with LionAir+WingsAir?
I can't fly the midnight flights leaving Jakarta... as I need some rest after an intercontinental flight to Spore then a connection to Jakarta arriving at 10PM.
Lionair happily sells a connecting flight on its website as a Jakarta-Sorong solution, leaving jakarat at 5AM arriving in Ambon at 11:50AM connecting with a Wings Air flight leaving Ambon at 12:30... which obviously cannot be done in 35mn. Only if..

I am wondering whether it's the same airplane that only changes its flight code with a short stop In Ambon and continues to Sorong.

Nobody could answer on that, Lionair doesn't reply, Chris at MauKeMana website (indonesia matters) neither. I'd really like to book my tickets solid but the connection schedules leaves me skeptical : is anybody in the know?

I took a similar flight nearly two years ago. Lion Air Jakarta Ambon and Wings Ambon Nabire. We had about 30 minutes in Ambon.
In Jakarta the luggage was checked in untill Nabire. So we did not have to do anything about it in Ambon. The Lion Air flight was a big plane and we had 20kg allowance, while the Wings flight was a smaller plane (ATR 72) with 15kg allowance. We paid for the extra weight in Jakarta. In Ambon we just got off the plane went into the building waited for about ten minutes and then we got on the other plane.
It did work, even our luggages arrived. It might work for you too.

Maybe Gede Negara (travel agent in Bali) can give you more information. Since a few years he regulary organizes flights for us and he is always very helpful, quick and really reliable!
His Email is: bligede (at) hotmail.com

Another question back to you..we are thinking about going to ambon (maybe combined with Banda) in the end of september.
do you have any other contact adress of BRD than the one on the homepage (no reply on my Email) and can we rely there on good guides..?

Hi all - More on Indonesian travel agents. I just booked flights from DPS to LBJ for a Komoto trip. Melysa at come2indonesia helped us arrange our tickets without any problems. We paid for the tickets with a simple fund transfer and used "XE" webpage for the exchange rate. I know the tread was originally about flying to Sorong - that trip is still a work in progress.

Flying to lbj from Denpasar, I believe you can take sky, transnusa, lion air and merpati. I booked sky online a few days before departure for 700k rupiah. The others, I don't think you can book online (I heard you can with lion but it didn't take my American credit card). Planes are small, but the flight is short. The return, which I did from ende, cost a lot more for some reason. I booked at local transnusa office a few days before for 1.1 million rupiah

You going to Raja Ampat finally ?

An other option that might work for you is to get on the Garuda Singapore - Makassar flight, overnight in Makassar and catch a morning flight to Sorong.

Sorry no experience on the Ambon route.

Yep with wifey, only 4 hefty days at RADL and still in my budget . ;)
I've also tried the Singapore/Makassar route but the schedules don't match, I'd lose another day. It's a pity because I'd rather have gone through Makassar than Jakarta. Anyway I've bought my tickets lat week since Euro is going down... alea jacta est
