Does anyone use theirs? I mean, I don't really touch the thing, and I know, for example, because of their fancy patented system, Mares doesn't even have them on their top of the line second stage. So I am curious, do you use yours often? Or ever?

I use mine often. I keep my primary tuned pretty hot so I have to detune it for adverse conditions like current and surge. My alternates are also adjusteble and I detune these whenever they are not in my mouth.

Yes.

All the time.
As others do, I have my primary set that it will ff with the knob all the way out.
I don't use the venturi as so much.....keep the back-up all the way to minus and the primary to plus.
You're right about the Mares regs.....the bypass tube makes for a great breathing reg without being balanced or needing knobs and levers.

Well, yes and no.

I screw it all the way out when I'm about to start a dive and screw it all the way back in when I'm done with the dive.

Assuming I remember to screw it back in.

I only do this because I think the knob is more susceptible to breakage if I left it screwed all the way out when not diving.

I use mine to detune the 2nd stage when not in my mouth.

For what it is worth, I use the adjustable 2nd's (Zeagle ZX) on pony, stage and backup 2nd's, and the non-adjustable 2nd's (Mares Abyss) is my primary 2nd. I just prefer how the Mares 2nd breathes (assuming proper tuning to the low end of "spec".... I've noticed that the "factory" tune on all six Mares reg sets I own was pretty conservative, at the "high" end of spec).

Best wishes.

I keep it set for maximum air flow. I haven't had a freeflow problem which necessitates turning it back.

What he said.

Sometimes I remember I've got that thing... Like every 100 dives or so:D

I've crawled into some pretty strong currents, but my G250 never free flowed, while still giving me more air than I can use.
