Anything that goes into commercialization is just unstoppable. I think 2 things can happen here for the local divers at least
1. local MM divers accept the fee and go on with life.
2. local MM divers getting inclined into uw photog will decline drastically
But I doubt majority will stop going to Anilao because of those fee's. Maybe it will drive the photography tourist away but I think the local market (which is 90% of Anilao's clientele) will stay because they have no where else to go.

I hope they really evaluate this further. Its the splurging tourist like the guys in these board that will be willing to spend loads of money on resort, diving, food and others in Anilao.

I heard or read somewhere that one of the arguments was exactly because photopro's make money from selling the pictures they have the 'privilege' of paying for the fee because they make money from what they have photographed

in that case the Taliban's and Iraqi's should start charging the war photographer..

that argument can go both ways. the articles and pics published are free advertisements and bring in even more divers. pics posted in SB have been attracting both local and foreign divers to anilao, galera, bohol, sogod, and now, cabilao. and nobody gets paid for pics posted here.

bingo

Wow... charge non-extractive divers an added fee to promote additional tourism to the area when they publicize Anilao. This sounds like genius... the kind that seems to prevail way too often here in the States.

Don't worry, guys and gals... with increasing miniaturization, they won't even know you're carrying a camera in another few years! You can hide it in your BCD folds.

exactly. stupid politicians.

in terms of practicality though most will probably just accept the fees and go on with life as jai said.

a lot of us here take photos, maybe we could hook up with celina's planet dive photo club and lobby somehow.
