Hows about you don't purge the suit before you take it in a pool without installing an inflation valve so that the suit doesn't squeeze around you due to to the pressure of the water and climb in rather than jumping so the air that's in
there is not immediately expelled so you don't have to install an inflation valve just for testing in a shallow pool and
if any qualms inflate it through the cuff before climbing in then walk deeper then dunk

This is a viable option but the OP should be aware that as they submerge if the excess air burps out the neck seal water tends to ingress into the suit through temporary gap that is formed.

You are in no danger in an 8' pool of squeezing yourself too much to function or be comfortable. I have made it to the bottom of the gallery in the Devil's Ear at Ginnie prior to adding air to my suit. Sure it squeezes a bit but it is not like death and that was at least 60'.
