I'm officially addicted to diving, or maybe obsessed? IDK, either works I guess. :D

I barely even started diving and almost all of my free time is spent reading about diving and safety, either here, other places online, or books. I get super excited when someone even mentions anything that sounds similar to diving or asks "what have you been up to?" and pretty much go on and on about diving, what I've seen, how great and relaxing it is, and all the gear and new stuff I want to eventually buy! They all end up looking at me like this........... " " hehe whoops. lol

My question is, does the "thrill" that a new diver feels (or the thrill I feel) of the dive ever wear off? Even a little? Does it start to become mundane, like other activities?

I sure hope not!

Ive been diving for six years, and I still find thrills in diving. You will learn, once the "newness" wears off, that the thrills come in other places-- Seeing something new for the first time. Helping others get just as excited about it as you are. Planning vacations where you can take your dive gear. The thrill is ALWAYS there, and its always changing! Welcome to the addiction. Too late to turn back now!! ;)

I got certified in September. I know what you're going through.... All I talk about is diving, It's only a matter of time until my wife takes me out and collects the life insurance. :D

Hi NeMEad,
My name is Izu and I am a dive-aholic. Utterly hooked. Diving is my crack. Rather than the "thrill" wearing off, I find myself craving more. I have only been diving 3 years but find myself dreaming about diving when not underwater. You still have time. Quit while you can:)

Divers seem to fall into two classes....

One group is jazzed with something new in their life. They never get past the basics and wonder why they aren't having fun or always have a hard time.

The other group really gets into the sport and learns what it's all about and it becomes a lifestyle.

It sounds like you are your way to the latter.

Nothing has worn off for me yet.

Pete

If you are like me you diving will be limited by your $$$ (or lack thereof)!

I still get excited before every dive to the point that I rarely sleep well the night before. And oh yah, I dive most every weekend.
