Oh really? Mine is usually in my garage,* but in the wild, I always lock it. I carry too many tools in the trunk, other things in the console and glovebox, along with my car insurance, etc. none of which would I carry in a rental while on a trip.

* I'm the only person I know who backs into his garage. It makes loading and unloading easier like after grocery shopping or before tomorrow's road trip, but I do it mostly so I can watch for neighborhood children, but then here they play in the street as well.
I use my garage for other things. It's not really a garage anymore.

We are staying in El Cedral for three weeks and are renting a car. I understand that most (if not all) beaches on the west side are concessions. Any suggestions on where I can park and access the beaches on the west side for nice long walks?
Ok, to answer your question, you can go to Playa Palancar. No admission fee, parking area. When you are done with you walk you can sit at a table and order a drink and cool off. The beach chairs are $10 but the chairs and table are free if you purchase food and drink. We stop there every day during our surface interval and get a pop and a snack.

Unfortunately, that is pretty much the way it is everywhere in the world. I would not leave my cellphone out and visible in an unlocked unattended car anywhere, not even in my own driveway.

Last month I was in Coz and drove the VW convertible to Mega one morning to get some stuff. After 15 minutes of pushing the cart around and ready to check out, I figured I'd text my wife and see if there was anything else we needed.

"It was at that moment that he realized he had f###ed up".

Realizing I had left my phone laying on the seat with the top down, I wanted to run to the car immediately but figured what will be will be, and checked out then walked hastily down. It was still there. Sometimes you get lucky.

Of course with some phones you can go to a computer and turn it into a brick if it gets stolen. I think that a better deterrent would be a few mg of C4 - just enough to make a loud bang and destroy the motherboard. "AUTODESTRUCT IN 3... 2... 1... BANG!" :D
