Still a newbie at all of this and started off with a 1 gig card for the camera. On just my 2nd trip (2 dives) I just about burned the entire memory :D I BIG part of the memory storage is going to video. I love the fact that in the middle of taking pictures, I can switch over to video for a short movie.

So, I am thinking about upgrading to a 2 gig card but I keep hearing that SOME camera's support it while others don't. On the Canon website the indicate they DO, but they put an "*" beside the claim.

Anyone actually using a 2 gig or HIGHER SD memory card?

Anyone know of any good deals? Best I've seen recently is in the 60-70 range.

I just returned from my first trip with my Canon a620. I used a 2 gig 150x card. I tried the card out before I left and knew it could take 17 minutes of video at 30 fps/640 and 60m at 15fps/320. On actual dives I took a combination of stills and videos and was very pleased with the performance.

That is a good question, I was considering purchasing the Scandisk Extreme III SD card. The reason is that it is extremly fast (20 mb/sec) and it is ruggedized (used under extreme conditions).
But they only offer it in a 1 gb format (for now).

I will always have a laptop with me to download these into so I would need this for a dive day (2-3 day)

So is 2 gb the norm? How good is the video?

The videos I have taken have been AWESOME. But I keep it on the highest setting (640 30fps). I've been VERY impressed.
