Hey Seangel,

Anytime you feel panicked and cannot recover underwater, make your sign and then head for the surface. You do not need permission from anyone -even your instructor- to live and breathe. The anxiety you felt will diminish over time, so do go easy on yourself. You are not training to be a Navy Seal, you are there to have fun.

BTW, CANGRATS on passing the OW portion... now go get wet!!! AND, while you are doing that, don't forget to practice at least one skill every time you dive (but not always the same one). It will keep you thinking and keep your skills honed.

Congrats Seaangel.

One thing I heard from a friend was that nobody ever told her to slow down - they were going through all this stuff and she was sprinting to keep up...
She finally realized that you don't have to go as fast as they tell you to - just do things in your own good time - it's about having fun.
You did good - now get back in the water!

SeaAngel,

Kudos and welcome to the fun! I second what the Doc says: practice one of the "obscure" skills on most dives--for example, removing your reg, clearing it and replacing it. Then when you "lose" it by accident one day, you will put it back in reflexively--and wonder what all the fuss was about!

The pool is open--somewhere--hop in very soon!
