A clothing optional play room?

Well that's another admission that they do intend to allow topless on the beach which is the very public beach shared by all isn't it. The times they are a changing.

Christi, I sure do hope you are right. I got a rather interesting PM from a mutual friend with a nice take on the topic. She suggested that SI's will now be done out front of the Aura and the boat captains will all be buying binoculars.

I doubt that they will for long...LOL. I did a few days of diving over in PDC with a shop that was right on Mamitas Beach. When we came back in, the topless sunbathers were out in force. While there were a few that looked pretty good, most of them really, REALLY needed to keep their clothes on.. :11:

i have no problem with topless women on the beach - if i dont like i dont look and if i do like, well i wonder who her surgeon is but experience has shown me that most people that are topless (both men and women) really should cover up ;)

but clothing optional in a bar & disco area... yikes.... whats the health regulations on that? i can only hope industrial cleaners are used on their furniture and would avoid those areas big time

Since Antonio and I have borrowed info from here to add to the TA post here is one from there that really has a point.

Wow - now we're concerned as well but for the opposite reason of most posters to this forum. We just got back from a fantastic 9 days at Desire - a lifestyle friendly resort in Cancun... probably our best vacation ever. It was our second trip. We were sent an email about Aura that described it as a new and even classier, 5 star version of Desire so we were investigating booking it for our next lifestyle holiday.

Rest assured that, based on the posts here, and the general confusion surrounding this apparent transition (if that IS in fact what is going on) we will NOT be booking here anytime soon. We have even less interest in running into horrified, shocked, and/or oblivious 'straight' guests as they have running into us. I couldn't imagine a worse scenario for a vacation.

While not all visitors to Desire in Cancun are 'lifestyle' (many if not most are just there for the clothing optional aspect) they are all completely aware and tolerant of the lifestyle acitivities that do occur there.

If Aura wants to have any kind of success at all they will have to be completely upfront and honest with all their guests.

This was posted overnight at the TA site and since TA has a policy about advertising it may get removed. It reveals a bit of how this whole thing has transpired and my guess is that all of the interest has caused them to go public.
AS posted, ad included.
Re: Response from Wyndham - The matter is clearer to me :-)

Perhaps some background will help to clear matters a bit:

IC signed with Wyndham as a means of acquiring clients before

considering Lifestyles/Illusion Resorts. LSO management met with IC

months ago concerning Sabor, the resort then being built. LSO, while

liking Sabor, decided against taking on the resort as a lifestyle resort

because it was not on a beach. Much later IC invited LSO back to look at

another property. This property did not "pencil out" financially. Aura

had just been opened as part of the newly designated Wyndham properties.

This included Wyndham Resort & Spa (former Reef Club Cozumel - no

relation to the former Reef Club in the Riviera Maya), the new adults

only Sabor, and Aura. IC then suggested Aura to LSO. This was

immediately (well, following negotiation) agreed to by both parties and

LSO, through Illusion Resorts, set to work with promotion plans. The

first requirement was to build a disco and this was agreed to. The

problem of major concern was the Wyndham tie. IC was to notify Wyndham

of the new direction of Aura. Unfortunately, this notice took

considerable time to filter through the Wyndham staff. It is our

understanding that Wyndham has now acknowledged the new direction. As

Wyndham has a contract the company can take bookings. This means that,

for a while anyway, there can be a mix of lifestyle couples with other

couples. There is also a difference in the rates Wyndham can charge. To

offset both problems it was decided that lifestyle couples will be given

a Lifestyles-Aura ID wristband on check in while any others not booked

through Illusions or other lifestyles agencies will receive the standard

Aura ID band. ID bands are required as the resort is all-inclusive. Only

guests booked through a lifestyle agency will have access to the new

Lifestyles Disco Club and c/o Solarium. There will be other benefits as

well. Aura is now a lifestyle oriented adult couples only resort. What

is needed to make this a complete transition and give the Lifestyle

Community its first 5 Star, very elegant destination is your booking

Aura for your next vacation! Help us to make Aura Cozumel popular and

you will further the growth of this growing community of friendly,

sensual and delightful couples!

Illusion Resorts offers Aura Cozumel as what is planned on being the

first of a string of elegant boutique resort destinations dedicated to

the lifestyle community. But, very sincerely, we need your help in

making this happen. Consider booking your 2008 vacation at Aura. Make

your reservation through LT&T, Lifestyles Resorts, or any of the

excellent travel agencies we have granted a sales agreement. You are

probably used to one of these already.

Please understand what we are attempting to do here and give us a little

slack as Aura develops.

Forgive my naivete, but here on ScubaBoard this is the first I've heard about this "Lifestyles" stuff. From context it appears that it's about folks who want to run around naked, trade sex partners in pairs and in groups, and otherwise indulge themselves in general debauchery. Have I got it right? I certainly don't want to google it from work for obvious reasons...

Until this hit the TA forum I didn't know anything about "lifestyles" either but you do seem to have a pretty good start at understanding the term. Isn't the language of advertising wonderful?
