xiSkiGuy:In perusing profiles, it looks like Dan Gibson (and probably DIR-Atlanta) are the only posters in this thread who have GUE Cave training. The rest are NACD or NSS-CDS or no cave training at all.
But it was good question. . .
Jasonmh:but the placement of gear and why it is placed where it is placed was really covered quite a bit in my fundies class.. was it not in yours?
Placement of SPG, light, etc. are basic principles..
Yep.lamont:and THERE you have the reason why this thread is producing more heat than light.
H2Andy:alright, for the last time:
my original question was getting feedback on why it may not be a good idea
to depart from two DIR practices (implicit in that question is that i know i am
departing from DIR practice)
so far so good?
then, someone said that what i thought was a departure from DIR practice may
not in fact be so (one can use the light on the right or left)
so far so good?
then, i asked a question: would moving the canister to the left be considered
against DIR or is it one of those thigns that can be done both ways, such
as the light?
since i have been using stages with a canister light on the right, and it
hasn't been an issue, i wonder if i am missing something that may make
changing the canister to the left and having stages there an issue.
CD_in_Chitown:So for us who haven't made it to fundies yet and those who did and don't seem to recall, please do tell, what is the reasoning behind placement of SPG, light? What are the inherent dangers in the way he's talking about straying from the path?
Jasonmh:There are many valid DIR answers in this thread on how and why, look back at the posts
Jasonmh:Therefore it is not too much of a mental leap for someone to believe that he may have been trolling.
The routing is clean, out of the way. Its also a backup...the primary guage is your head.CD_in_Chitown:I mean its left hip d-ring right? That's like the same as what I learned in PADI ow but with a smaller guage. So what is the big secret on how/why it was formalized this way in DIR?
