It could be a small chunk of crap that got through the filter and lodged in that hole.
Use a small welding torch tip cleaner. You get them in a little metal folding kit and it will be a set with all size cleaning wires.
Tear down the reg and push it out the way it came in with the appropriate size cleaning wire. Also, one side usually never gets used and sits static. This might have something to do with it.

ive read somewhere having water get in the 1st stage wont kill
it… but if hes been doing it the last 2years 😔
Wrong. It will kill it good and dead if they flood the 1st stage regularly. There is almost certainly corrosion in that regulator. It might be salvageable but not forever if they keep abusing their gear.

Could be corrosion, it could be someone used the wrong oring on the din fitting to the reg.

so this involves doing an overhaul right? otherwise pushing it back in, it will just blow past back ang close.

ok chill... it isn't mine.. im just helping out a friend here. i guess overtime he forgot his regulator maintenance.. and just dunked in his regulator in a bath of soapy water.. well that is what he told me .

probably corrosion due to water... not a chance on the oring.. he's been using it for the last 2 years. and the last person to overhaul ... i knew him..

Ideally yes; sure it can go back to where it got lodged originally, or end up somewhere else (either blowing out from an LP as a best case or scratching the piston stem/edge as a worst case and them you’d need to resurface it)

Since we all suspect some corrosion a clean rebuild seems warranted eitherway

Sidebar re the dunk open thing: I did that only on my mk25Ts as they are more protected against corrosion — but not on my brass ones; but that was just a bandaid to clean the salt before rebuilding them anyways (not completely; I consider mk20/25s very easy to deal with on the rebuild front and every feww weeks I have one open anyways)
If I had yokes I’d dunk sealed no worries, but use only DIN

Yes, it needs to be overhauled and thoroughly inspected and cleaned internally. Whatever clogged up that HP port probably isn’t the only bit of foreign crud in there.

Tell your friend that soaking the 1st stage is a good idea, WITH the dust cap securely in place. And there’s no reason to use soapy water, just clean fresh water is the best.
