Im leaning towards it, but for a college student..free parts for life on the legend?

It's only free parts every other year for Aqualung products. The other year you aren't supposed to rebuild, only inspect. If you need to rebuild the other years, you have to pay for the parts yourself. MSRP on parts for a AL Legend is about $55 bucks.

As I understand it A L lowers the IP to about 140-145 psi and call this an over balanced reg. The only differance in the first stag of the Legend LX and the Legend LX Supeme is that the Supreme has a lower IP setting from the factory.

that's right... The AL Legend and the AL Legend Supreme are the EXACT SAME REG except for the IP setting and a few cosmetic differences. Cosmetic differences are the housing has a snowflake on it, it has a Silver 'pimp ring' instead of the Gold one and it comes with the lipguard. Oh.. and they charge $20 bucks or so more for it.

But if you look at a parts diagram, all the internal parts are the same exact part number.

Don't know about the Kronos, but the Legend LX is a good solid performing reg.

If you want the Legend LX... figure out what kind of "pimp ring" you want on the front of it, Silver or Gold, and order that one, then set your IP to what you want regardless of the pimp ring color. If you get the gold one, you can get your dealer to order you a lipguard if you want it. they are only a few bucks extra.

Well that's one problem, the price of the Legend LX or Legend Supreme is $120+ more verse the normal Legend, The Kronos Supreme is about the same give or take a few dollars as the standard Legend and if you look at the chart on AL website, the features of the Kronos Supreme are indentical to the Legend LX ACD Supreme. At this point I can't afford to buy one thats more then $550 (or $495 after the discount). So the Legend LX or LX Supreme are out of the question.

I own two Kronos Subprime regulators, I am a UW photgrapher and Instructor, I use these regulators for both pleasure and fun and am very enthausiastic about them, I like the bubble deflector which sends the bubbles away from my face, fantastic.
The regulator breaths very comfertable and constant even in great depths (210 feet)
The regs are not over balanced but the difference is for the everage diver not noticable, the anti freeze cap on the Subprime makes that this so called over pressure effect is not working but there is no logic to that statement because the cap is transmitting the pressure the same as with the standard modell.
I choise for the Subrime because the HP chamber stays dry so I have less maintenance to do on he regs.
With both I scored abour 180 dives by now and didn'tsense any difference, I make +/- 300 dives per Year.
It is surely worth the invertment.
