Hello,

I'm looking for a small resort that is good for divers, but still nice for a romantic get-away. I'm not hearing good things about scuba club. Could anyone recommend a place that's good for couples and divers?

Thanks,

I am not sure what you are hearing about Scuba Club..but it is a wonderful divers hotel :)

Blue Angel is a small hotel on the water....but I would not classify it as a "resort"

you want a small resort for a "romantic get-away" not sure what amenities you are looking for...so if you can be more specific we can probably help you..;)

I second the question re: scuba club, I was there in July and loved it.
What have you heard?

Good for divers and romantic get away don't always go hand in hand. When I think good for divers, I think of short walk to boat, ok to drag gear to room and wet floors, place to hang gear and often small budget oriented. Non of which are very romantic.

If you are using a dive op that will keep your gear for you, there are a lot of resort choices depending on your budget. Are you looking for a high end or middle priced resort?

It depends what you are looking for but I would suggest Cozumel Palace (check w/dive op to make sure they will pick you up there) or Presidente. Coz Palace is all-inclusive, Presidente is not. If you give more specifics on what you are looking for you will get more suggestions.

We have stayed at a number of places on Coz over the years but have found our "home away from home" at Residencias Reef Condos just south of The Wyndum. Wouldnt stay anywhere else now. We have been staying there for about 4 years and go twice a year. We like low season so there are rarely people at either pool and its quiet.

A little more specificity would be helpful. Since, I'm about as "romantic" as the White House Press Secretary is honest.:coffee:

I agree with the need for more info about what would count as "romantic" as well as with Paradise Hunter's statement that what's good for divers might not necessarily make for a romantic setting.

In general, though, I'm with greylion: if you're talking honeymoon, 10th anniversary, etc. the Intercontinental Presidente is your place. It's a very nice property with some gorgeous rooms. At night the downstairs walkways are lighted with candles. They manicure the beaches. There's a nice spa. The staff is extremely attentive.

It's also great for divers, especially if you get one of the ground-level rooms facing the beach on the north side, since those rooms have an outdoor secure drying area for gear that prevents clogging up your bathroom with dripping wetsuits. Just about any operator will happily pick you up at their dock no matter where you're diving, because the caleta where most dive boats live is immediately adjacent to the resort.

The biggest problem is the price, which is relatively outrageous compared with other properties on the island in today's economy. My wife and I have decided it's simply too expensive to justify any longer after staying only there for several years.

I've never been inside Scuba Club, but good friends will stay only there. We intend to try it next time we don't have extended family with us (and thus end up renting a house).
