blue eyes let more light in than brown eyes, how the pigment works. you can still be photosensitive for other reasons though
I don't doubt that people with blue eyes are likely to be more photosensitive, but I'm skeptical that blue eyes allow more light to enter the eye. The eye color is on the iris, which consists of layers of smooth muscle that control the pupil size. It's the pupil that allows light to enter the eye. The iris pigment is just on the surface of the smooth muscle, which itself is quite opaque. I suppose that some light could be transmitted through the iris of folks with blue eyes, but this would likely have the effect of smearing the refraction of light through the pupil, reducing visual acuity. If light does transmit through blue irises and not brown, I'd be interested to see if there are differences in visual acuity.
