Opposed to both fiascos, but supports the troops in this one, was one in the other. Emailed the link to everyone I know online. Gonna go watch it again.

Damn, eyes wetter this time. Think it's the music.

i am completely in awe of anyone who has fought in the U.S.
armed forces, and believe there's nothing we can do to repay them

it pisses me off that Budweiser is using them
to sell frigging beer. how much more
crass and commercial than than can you get?

just makes me think, "fragging manipulators"

to the troops, thank you

They ran this last year as well. I also saw it sometime not too long ago. I was surprised that they ran it again.

Awesome.... That is so great to hear. I've seen troops coming through various airports, and always, they are greeted kindly and respectfully and sympathetically. The same was true for me, when I was on active duty, and I can't begin to tell you how much it means when people express appreciation for us. It makes all of the mud, the training, the long nights, the exhaustion, and so much of the pain, all worthwhile. I look at our troops now, and I am envious. I miss the Army, and I miss the uniform, and I miss the pride, the shared honor, and the camaraderie.

Aw Andy, Fish & I served, and we were impressed. I think it's a nice tribute.

yeah... i wish i could be less cynical

i see it as a beer commercial manipulating the sacrifice of our troops to sell
beer... it's just a commercial

if they wanted a real tribute, why not start a fund to put the children of
combat casualties through college? or lobby congress to get vets
real medical care? or proper insurance for their families? or get combat widows
a decent for-life annuity?

these images are sentimental (in my book) and easy. they belittle the real
sacrifices being made by our troops.

i'll shut up now

This is a lesson I'm glad we've learned since Vietnam. I was against that policy and I'm adamantly against this one as well. However, I was one of those who did not focus my protest against the soldiers and sailors who were bravely fighting. I had friends who served in 'Nam, and friends who have, and are, serving in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere. I just wish they didn't "have" to be put in harm's way.

I second that emotion! Old men plan wars and young men (& women) die in them.
"Bring the boys home - bring them back alive!"

I can see your side of it too, Andy. I look at it though, that they used their advertising spot to pay a tribute, rather than advertising beer. Yes, there's always more that someone as big as Anheiser-Busch could do, and perhaps they are and we just don't know about it... I choose to see it as something noble that they've done, and I applaud it.
