:hmmm:

I had noticed a trend similar to that. People seem to post less about Bonaire now because he drags every thread down. Sad really.

^10^10

Jamaica is not a dive destination? DR is not a dive destination? A dive destination is anywhere that someone travels to to do some diving. Mike also referenced every other Caribbean island....they are not dive destinations?????

You only say this because you have such a hate on for Bonaire.

Jamaica and DR are not good dive destinations, as is Coz, Saba, Bonaire ,Dominica etc. You should know that?

He has experienced exactly ZERO criminal activity on Bonaire.

But I've met and spoken to many that have and that is a concern. It might not be for you, but some of us are concerned when other divers get ripped off.

I just got back from a week in Negril Jamaica. We dove every day but one. That's my fifth trip to Jamaica. The only thing I had stolen there was my innocence.

Maybe you just have never dove any place good and you think Jamaica is good? Had a freind dive there and said all the reefs were in very bad shape and there was nothing to see.

This is an incorrect assumption.
Much of the island's economy is based on the TONS of salt that they export.
I'm ignoring the rest of this mis-informed post...

Oh, please. Salt pales in compariosn to tourism. Salt was a big seller 80 years ago:eyebrow: If the crime continues maybe salt will outpace tourism, when a lot of divers stop gong there?

Dude..You REALLY need to get a life. The other thread which you trashed has been shut down by the mods. And here you go less than 24 hours later with the S.O.S.! What is your OBSESSION with this topic?
IMHO, you are NOT looking for solutions. You are NOT trying to make Bonaire a better place. All you really care about is trashing and vilifying Bonaire under the guise of being a "concerned diver". :shakehead:

You continually post fairly tale descriptions of Bonaire. :shakehead:Your continued white washing of the Bonaire crime problem only adds negatively. Be part of the solution and post honestly.

Not only is Bonaire's income not 100% derived from tourism as another poster pointed out, but only 44% of tourists are divers according to http://www.bonaireeconomy.org/stats_pdfs/Economic Note 2007 pdf.pdf - page 87. That's not even half. Think windsurfers, cruise ships, and weekenders from Curacao, Aruba, and Venezuela.

You need to get up to date. Crime revenue is probably more than salt.

Only if those islands were dive destinations. Since I believe what I read, I am now certain they are not dive destinations :rofl3:

No one that is a diver, with experience, thinks DR, Jamaica are good places to dive. Just do a search here on Scubaboard to see some descriptions and comapre them to places like Coz, Saba, Dominica, Bonaire, Grand Turk and you'll see.

so what happened to our original poster?

Just reading some of the silliness.

Yeah, sadly the entire Caribbean has according to PF been taken off the Dive Destination list .

Wish you could be more accurate and post what people actually said, verusus what you THINK they said.:eyebrow: Maybe DR and Jamaica are great places to you but maybe you just don't know how bad they are because you have never been to good places? Where have you dove besides Bonaire?

That is not true.

There are many dive sites in the Caribbean that he's been to and talked to people about crime on Bonaire. So there is diving somewhere in the Caribbean.

Quit trying to spread misinformation Steve! :shakehead:

Well, it's what Steve does. Absent any content, or something of value to say, the attack mode is the thing.

PF very clearly responded to a post that referenced Jamaica, DR and other Caribbean islands and he stated that they were not Dive Destinations.

Kindly do a search on Scubaboard and learn WHERE the good places are.:shakehead:

I've prob got 10 dives or so on my last trip to jamaica.

While it might not be a mainstream "dive only" destination, the diving was pretty good.

In fact, even the mainstream dive locations, like Cozumel, Grand Cayman, etc are now taken over by the cruise line. (maybe he should go start a thread on that...)

:shakehead: There is much you do not know. They never mix divers with Cruise ship people.

Correct.
When you see a thread here where PilotFish is involved, you'll know better now...

And you? What can you tell us about the Bonaire crime problem?

:hmmm:

I had noticed a trend similar to that. People seem to post less about Bonaire now because he drags every thread down. Sad really.

That is so ironic coming from you. You are the one that is CONTINUALLY attacking and skirting with tos. Your posts are a trollers paradigm.

At the end of this year Bonaire will become part of the Netherlands again.
This will mean that the Dutch government will be able to set the standards.

Do remember that Dutch law is very different from US law and policing.
ie one can not use a bait car to trap people stealing things.
However things should improve

.

No PF..I really think the problem is that you've got a proctologist's view of Bonaire. :mooner:
Get your head out of your butt, get down to Bonaire & get some real life experience on the island. Talk to the people there, the divers at the sites, the owners of the businesses, the folks who live on the island etc etc. Then, perhaps your posts may make more sense and folks may lend you a bit more credence. Otherwise..well you know... SOS

Like you, those are the very people that continue to white wash the problem because they, and you, don't want people to know just how bad the crime problem on Bonaire really is.:shakehead: Can't you try to be part of the cure?

If your posts contained anything but useless drivel he would discuss that. You are the problem PF.

Nothing of value to say, or add, so he attacks typos:eyebrow:
