Hey everyone,

Just recently changed out my hoses for some long hoses, bought the double tank hose kit, because i figured it was down the road anyways. Well low and behold when I set the darn thing up, the 7ft hose fits me like a 5ft hose does most divers, meaning I barely have enough hose to tuck under my harness nor be able to go under a cannister light, also the 22" hose was not even long enough to reach my mouth, so I had to switch to a 24" on a swivel to be comfortable(turning head to left with out losing reg). I guess my question is does anyone else have this problem, I am not fat by any means just a big guy who spends a fair amount if time in gym lifting weights.

Also curious how this will affect me when I switch to doubles in the future, will I need to get a longer primary hose?.

thanks

You may have consider a 9' hose,or get a custom 8' hose. The 5' and 9' hose is what was first adopted by cave divers, and they were found to be too short or too long.
I wouldn't worry about specific numbers, but what works for you.

First off Merry xmas,

I took alook at the pics on teh site you showed me, and yez i am routing it the same way under the right arm up and around the neck. I am able to tuck about two inches into my waist belt, after som further research though, I don;t believe it is goign to be a problem with doubles anyways, infact I should have a bit more hose available since it will be coming of the right post instead of directly behind my head. But I may look into getting a custom hose length made for me.

Thanks

Single tank v. double tanks shouldn't make much of a difference in the length of the hose. I dive long hose with both setups and have about the same amount of play in both. If you're not in a hurry to get the custom hose, come out to Lake Pleasant sometime when I'm there and I'll take a look at your set up. We'll also get you in a set of doubles and see how the 7' works out.
