I never heard of long hoses before I started reading ScubaBoard. I've since started converting my gear along the Hog lines, with a BP/W, a regular backup 2nd stage on a necklace to replace my old Air2, and a five-foot hose for my primary. I've only tried it a few times, but I was surprised how easy to manage the long hose was. Before you try it, it seems like it would get snagged or get looped around the wrong way or something, but that never happened. It was real easy to grab, loop around my head, and offer, while putting the backup in my mouth, using either hand. I was surprised how simple it was.

Well, about all I can say to that is - It's been my experience people who talk so tough on the internet are quite often something else in the real world.

It's over & out for me on these thread guys....

If McDiver swam over to me and made the OOA "slash" I would hand over my reg very quickly. They probably wouldn't notice my bungied reg as it is black against black. I feel certain they would go the reg in my mouth. I don't see it being a problem.

Even without the OOG signal, if some stranger is swimming at me my first instinct will be to donate. If I'm wrong and they're just coming to check me out, no harm, I'll stick it back in my mouth. But certainly no one will get close enough to me to reach my necklace without first encountering my primary.

Agreed. I've donated my reg and have the person swim up and make the "boat" signal. The last thing I want is someone grabbing my reg. It's so easy to donate.

Naw, I would tell you face to face that a person's gear configuration is up to the person diving it. The guys who call people strokes bug me too.

I was polite for a long time, but you just would not leave it alone, so you got the unpolite version.

It's funny how... programmed we become.

I was standing around in the parking lot at the beach one night and out of the corner of my eye saw the flash of a light. Someone was just showing off his shiny new HID, but my first, almost instinctive thought was, "what's wrong," and my right hand actually moved a bit up towards my face.

Dry. In a parking lot. Granted, I'd just finished diving, but still.
